2026 Orion Veterans Memorial Day Race

Join us for the 10th Annual Orion Veterans Memorial Day Run/Walk.

Lake Orion residents and visitors are invited to lace up their running shoes and take part in a meaningful community tradition at the 10th Annual Memorial Day Run/Walk, an event dedicated to honoring veterans while bringing the community together in support of the Orion Veterans Memorial.

The race will take place on Memorial Day, with the start and finish located on Anderson Street, adjacent to the Children’s Park parking lot. Participants can choose between a 5-mile race or a 5K run/walk, making the event accessible for runners and walkers of all experience levels. All participants who complete their race will receive a finisher medal in recognition of their accomplishment and commitment to honoring those who served.

Race Day Schedule

  • Day-of check-in begins at 8:00 a.m. near the start/finish area
  • 5-mile race begins at 9:00 a.m.
  • 5K run/walk begins at 9:15 a.m.

Packet Pickup and Registration will be held on Sunday, May 24, from noon to 4:00 p.m. at Hanson’s Running Shop, located at the corner of Flint Street and Broadway. Participants who register by May 1 are guaranteed an official event shirt.

For those unable to attend in person, a virtual race option is available, allowing supporters to participate from anywhere while still contributing to the cause.

Proceeds from the Memorial Day Run directly support the long-term sustainability of the Orion Veterans Memorial, helping preserve this important community landmark for future generations. Day-of registration may be limited or unavailable, so early registration is strongly encouraged.

Whether running, walking, or participating virtually, the Memorial Day Run offers a meaningful way to honor veterans, support a lasting memorial, and celebrate a decade of community tradition in Lake Orion.
