Donate to help us repair our memorial.
It’s been a different winter with above average temperatures during most of January and February and then single digit lows during the nights. The fluctuations in temperature have left their mark at the Memorial.
On the weekend of February 15-16, one of the center panels on the Branches of Service wall fell out. Fortunately, it fell in a snowbank and wasn’t damaged. If either of the end panels on that wall had fallen, it would have hit the smaller monument in front of it and broken.
After a thorough inspection of the remaining panels on the Branches of Service wall and on the other two walls we had to install temporary holding devices to protect the panels.
Since the damage was caused by the weather and not by vandalism the repairs are not covered by insurance. We are seeking estimates so the repair work can be done when weather permits.
Repairs of this nature were not anticipated and not included in our operating budget for 2020. We need your help in raising money to fix the damage caused by the weather and make our Memorial whole again. If you are able to help please click the “DONATE” button and follow the instructions. Or, you can send a check to the following address:
The intention is to have the wall repaired well in advance of our Memorial Day festivities. Thank you for your time, efforts and continued support of the Orion Veterans Memorial.
